Bicycle/Pedestrian Working Group

**Please Note: NYSDOT released a Capital Projects Complete Streets Checklist as part of the state Highway Design Manual. Effective September 1, this checklist will be required in scoping and design of all projects other than routine pavement maintenance.**

Travel on foot and by bicycle has become increasingly recognized as a valued part of the urban transportation fabric. When trips made by non-motorized modes replace those made in cars, there are benefits ranging from reduced emissions to reduced congestion to improved health from physical activity. MPOs are looking for ways to promote these modes, and to understand their unique safety needs.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Working Group includes staff of MPOs and NYSDOT. Representatives of advocacy groups are invited to participate.
